HUSBAND AND WIFE FOR 45 YEARS

TWO PEOPLE FELL IN LOVE IN 1967.  He graduated from the University of Utah  in 1969 and then they got married.
She had never been away from home and now she was going across the country to Washington D.C.  (She looks a little teary to me but saying goodbye is a teary kind of thing). Washington D.C. was a very exciting place to be.  Their first Christmas was spent there.  (The baby was borrowed).  The antique sewing table is still one of her favorite gifts.

First came the cat and then the baby and then two years later...graduation from medical school.  How exciting.  It was time to go out into the real world.

And then there were two babies and the real world of residency in St. Louis.

And then there were three babies and oh so much more to love.

Two babies plus another and another and another and another makes 6 babies and the husband was now a "real doctor" and they moved to the land Bountiful.

The real doctor was delivering real babies in the real world.  (He even delivered cousins Jimmy and Melinda.  The photo is Jimmy's first).

He didn't get much sleep back then.  He  broke his arm and did surgery with it broken. (Looks a lot like Colby doesn't he).

Many birthdays came and went and were celebrated with great joy.

Pets came and stayed a long time. OB even had a dog friend that came to visit.

There were many Valentine Days.  (They look so young...how could they have 6 children?)

Halloweens came and went and the spooks just got bigger.

Christmas traditions were carefully kept from year to year.

...and then there were the vacations.  Many, many vacations.  Low profile.

The doctor ran and ran and ran.  He ran short races and he ran marathons.

There were some very special celebrations.  The very best one was Nell's 11 year cancer free party.  Everyone looked so good in pink.  It was a happy time.

Tahiti with the girls was another fun vacation.

It was almost 45 years they had been together and they were still playful.

All because two people fell in love and got married almost 45 years ago they now have a posterity.  There are many grandchildren to love and many more good times to be had.

The 45th year anniversary was spent as missionaries in Mongolia.

There are still races to be run.  This one is the Mongolian half marathon.  It included a 5K run.  I think marathons are a thing of the past, sweet past.

This is what 45 years together looks like.  The celebration was dinner and a movie, Maleficent.( Senior missionaries have great lattitude).  The next day we were at Youth Conference sleeping in a tent (no air mattress, mind you) and playing with 200+ kids and putting bandaids on their owies.  I love him and he loves me and that's the way it should be.  May there be many more anniversaries to celebrate together and with the children and grandchildren we love better than life.  Happy 45th!

  2. Pam, this is amazing! Sweet story of love and commitment, for sure. My question is......where did all these pictures come from? Are they all on your computer? Did you plan this? Should I be surprised? NOOOOOO!
