This is what 70 year olds do on their birthdays! It was a wonderful dinner of Australian fillet of beef, the most delicious dinner we've had in Mongolia and it was shared with all the senior couples.
This is the hat I gave him. Warm wolf fur and leather. Good for 40 degrees below.
Now the rest of the photos are of someone who is not 70 years old. (He is disguised in a 70 year old body). What 70 yr. old plays with decapitated sheep heads? He later ate that sheep head, eyes, ears and all.
He hikes up mountains.
He climbs up sand dunes and claims himself king of the hill.
He braves the ice and snow.
He shows his fashion sense...wait a minute, maybe not.
He teaches the kids how to throw a football.
He rides white camels.
He practices his archery skills. (most effective with properly placed tongue)

He has declared himself king, or as the senior couples say, "who died and made you king"?
Long live the king. My adventure here in Mongolia is enriched because of him. He is my honey, my protector, my friend and confidant. Being married for 46 years has melded us together. We have blown out many birthday candles together and I want to eat birthday cake with him for many more years. He is amazing. (you should have seen him riding the white camel. He looked like Lawrence of Arabia.)
The following is a tribute to David written by our youngest son. It is mostly accurate.
70 years ago people were really happy you came into the world. You grew up loved by your relatives, athletic and handsome. Made out with girls in the hall and almost married myra in 6th grade. Sports, girls, fights and grades through high school made you the coolest kid in school. Steve Lowe your best friend the whole way. You made the choice to go on a mission and that one decision changed your entire future. Came home and met Pam Bernier and wouldn't let her break up with you by throwing a tantrum on the garbage cans. Got into medical school, lived frugally and met great people. Started to have kids, moved back to Utah and operated and delivered most of bountiful. 6 kids, traveling, birthdays, missions, weddings, grand kids and some funerals. You had a short retirement followed by amazing prolonged career in new Zealand, Australia and grand Cayman. Now you are back on a mission in Mongolia with that same lady that wanted to break up with you 50 years ago. 24 grand kids and counting.
70 years summed up with the brief highlights that I know. We love you, miss you, and hope to see you again soon. Be safe and watch out for stray camels or whatever kind of animals they have there.
Happy Birthday!!!
Love Colby
