Life in the MTC Fast Lane

The MTC is a place of contrasts.  The very old and infirm and the very young and energetic are the ones who people this place.  And then there are few in-betweens who run the show.

We did a lot more than stand in front of the map to show where we will serve but everyone has to have a photo of pointing to their special spot and we are no different.

We spent the week at the MTC learning from Preach My Gospel and this is our District.  The 8 of us laughed and cried together as we learned what it takes to be in the Lord's service.

I know you can't see the faces in this photo of so many people.  I use it only to show how many senior couples were in the MTC with us that week.  And this is only half.  There were 180 seniors there and about the same number will be coming the week after and the week after that in a continuous stream of folks ready to serve the Lord full-time.  One couple were going to Sierra Leone, another to Japan, another to South Africa and another to Mongolia (that's us) and the list goes on.  One man was blind, a couple of old guys were walking with canes and there were untold who were very quiet about their health details. (I wasn't kidding when I said the old and infirm).  And what a blessing they will be to all they serve.  I was inspired by their individual and collective devotion to the Lord and His work.   What a wonderful thing for us to be a part of.  This is the Lord's work and He knows what He's doing.

Saying goodbye isn't for sissies

Like I said, saying goodbye isn't for sissies and I meant it.  And so I will revisit the goodbyes again and again individually and collectively.  I'm just trying to get my head around 2 years of being away from family and I'm trying  to not be a sissy.  So there you are.  My beautiful family one by one.

Easter Saturday was a great day to gather everyone together and have an Easter egg hunt.  Some kids even found some golden eggs filled with money instead of candy.

Emma was looking for the candy first, golden egg second.

These are my favorite little Easter Bunnies

Everyone looks happy until you get to this guy.  Maybe he's having a hard time saying goodbye. Maybe he ate too many candy eggs.

Now he's happy because he's surrounded by the ones he loves most.  There are more but can they fit on his lap?

When you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses.
